Fox Run Stables 2013.

Anonymous: I feel really awkward asking this but what do you usually wear when you're on your period and ride? Both pads and tampons? I just wear night time pads right now but I really want to try tampons because they don't leak as much and are apparently more comfortable. I'm so scared to try tampons though. I don't have a mom so I don't really know who to ask! Any tips for first time with tampons too?

Don’t feel awkward at all! Im super open and will just tell you how it is. Okay so when I first started riding I only used pads but while I rode I was super paranoid that blood would get on my breeches and that everyone would see since they were tan. And it did happen once (luckily only a little). So after that I tried using tampons. I was totally one of those girls who said I would never use them but they are gods gift to women. Once you have them in, you honestly don’t have to worry about them, you don’t feel them, you don’t have to go through that gross feeling of blood coming out of you, they are just great. Ok for first timers I recommend tampax pearl, that’s all I have ever used and I’ve had no issues with them. These ones are great b/c they have the plastic applicator that the tampon sits in so you don’t have to actually hold the actual tampon and push it inside of you with your hand. Best advice is for the first time you do it, or anytime, take deep breaths and just relax. Don’t rush it and do it when you’re on your period because the blood sort of acts like a lubricant. It will be uncomfortable at first, more so if you haven’t ever had anything go up there. Read the instructions that comes with the box or watch a video on YouTube. It’s pretty easy to figure out how to do it, I just re read the instructions a few times before. Remove the tampon if it feels really uncomfortable, sometimes it just takes a few tries to get it, also don’t worry about doing it wrong or whatever, you can always pull it out. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!!:) I work at a sexual health clinic for my auntie so in decent in the female care department, haha
